Awesome Boy's Scarf
Size 15 Knitting needles
Bright green, bright blue and bright purple ww yarn. Any colors your boy wants. (Heck make it girl colors.....girls would like this scarf too)
yarn needle or crochet hook to weave in ends
What I did was make a "magic ball of yarn"
I randomly chose which colors and how much of each and joined them together using the Russian join.

This way the length of each stripe is not the same as the next stripe. Plus it is fun to forget what you did while winding the ball and you get a nice surprise while knitting.
The only tricky part is joining and winding 2 strands of yarn at the same time. You can always add more yarn later if you didn't wind enough the first time.
You can always have rows the same length and join as you go along if you do not want to use the "magic ball of yarn"
Using 2 strands together,
Cast on 15 st
Row 1 - k5, p5, k5
Row 2 - p5, k5, p5
Repeat rows 1 and 2 to row 6
Row 7 - p5, k5, p5
Row 8- k5, p5, k5
Repeat rows 7 and 8 to row 12
Continue this pattern of 6 rows of 1 and 2 then 6 rows of 7 and 8 until scarf reaches desired length.
Cast off and weave in all ends.
Easy Peasy

Feel free to do what you want with the finished scarf. Please link to me if you choose to sell the scarves.

I love checkerboard patterns for some reason, so when I started knitting a couple months ago, I was really excited to be able to do one. Am now well on my way to making a bookmark with this pattern, thank you.
