All this icky white stuff

This morning after the kids went to school I heard it start raining. But then the rain started making clinking sounds on the windows. I opened the door and looked outside and saw all this nasty white stuff flying around and sticking to every available surface. Great. Just great. I already woke up in the middle of the night with my nose running off my face, kids sneezing, everybody getting headaches. Let's just add some snow to go along with all that! Sure snow is fun when you are a kid,for a short time. You can only make so many snowmen or have so many snowball fights before you want to curl up with a blanket in front of the tv. As an adult.....I have to drive on this slippery stuff and deal with the half frozen kids when the come inside. Plus as a mon I have to deal with all the runny noses and used tissues from each person in the house. I get to measure and hand out the appropriate dosage of medicine for each person while having a cloudy head myself. We have drafts coming in from almost every window and door. But at the same time I am scared of sealing the house up too tight and having a problem with carbon monoxide poisoning. But at the same time my runny nose stings when I breathe in the cold breeze from these dang windows. I think hubby has some work to do tonight. I have reached the point in my adult life where I see the dollar signs flying out the window. I turn off lights behind people as they leave rooms. I am there looming over shoulders if the fridge is left open for too long. And now with this breeze strong enough to move the mini blinds coming in, I just keep thinking how hard it will be to heat this place. I wish we owned our own place and not in these crappy places people rent out to keep their wallets full. For now I am going to go blow my nose....again....and see what other surprises this day holds for me.
