It seems to never fail that when I need yarn from WalMart, they are out of that ONE that I need.
Last week I needed some Frosty Green for the turtle pillow pet. Gone. But they had speckled frosty green so I had no choice but to use that.
This week I was looking for more of that heavenly soft purple yarn for that giant granny afghan I am making. Guess what? GONE! They had it last week because I picked it up and showed it to my daughter and made a reference to having that exact yarn at home. What I got instead was extremely similar but NOT varigated!!!! It is the same purple as parts of what I have been using. I really wish my first skein had the label with it so I knew what the name of the color was. This is the Lion Brand Yarn, Homespun in Baroque. I am glad that I have plenty of the white sparkly I am using because they didn't even have anything that resembled it up there. It will end up working out. If the person I am giving it to doesn't know it was a mistake in colors then they will think it was all part of the plan.
The same really for the turtle pillow pet. The person getting it never knew what color I was SUPPOSED to get in the first place. It just bugs me alone that I had to get a slightly askewed color. It did turn out very cute though so I can't complain much.
What I will complain about is that I also wanted to buy Red Heart Black Fleck yarn and they were out. I can always buy regular black to finish the other giant granny afghan.....but this time it won't look like it was on purpose. I am just hoping that next week when I go up there that black fleck will be there.
So instead of getting any yarn to finish the second granny, I got me a skein to make a tote bag I am working on. I had to buy a new yarn for that because I was working with leftover varigated yarn I had and I don't have enough and you will never believe this but.......Walmart doesn't sell that color anymore!!!!!! (insert insanity laugh HERE)
Trust me I know the rule of buy how many skeins you need to finish a project all at t once. I just happened to start these projects with yarn I had on hand THINKING that I could pick up what I needed later since I see those same yarns every single time I go to Walmart.
I have one more giant granny afghan and believe me I will be buying ALL the yarn up front in order to prevent this again.
