Today I will show you a cute craft you and your little ones can do together. No matter how big or little they are.
Things you will need:
Construction paper
Glue stick
Tape
Scissors
Crayons
Little hands and feet for tracing
The first thing you need to do is draw out your tree shape. I used black for a scary tree. But you can always use brown if you desire. You will need three pieces of paper. One for the trunk, one for the tree top, and one for the branches.
Now I only made six branches, but you can have more or less if you want.
Cut out the tree parts. Or if you have an older child they can use safety scissors and cut out the parts.
Use the glue stick to attach the top and bottom of the tree together, then glue the branches to the back side of the tree.
To make the ghosts:
For the little ghosts have your child make a fist and place the side of their hand on the paper and trace it with a crayon.
For the large ghosts have your child put their bare foot on the paper and trace it with a crayon.
Now hand over control to your little helper(s). Give them some crayons and the tracings of the ghosts and have them color them however they like. I added the eyes and mouth first, older kids can make their own faces on the ghosts.
Now you can cut the ghosts out. Or if your child is old enough they can use safety scissors and do this part.
Since my son is 3 I did the cutting. He got a little bored and figured out that the crayons fit very well into his front loader and dump truck.
Now you can tape the tree onto your front door, window or child's bedroom door. Put a small piece of tape on the ghosts and let your child put them on the tree wherever they like.
I went ahead and drew up some bats to add to our tree.
Why stop at ghosts? Draw up some monsters or spiders. Maybe a witch hat or some snakes. The ideas are endless.
I hope you enjoy doing this with your child. I know we had fun.
