I was visiting the new little yarn/craft shop in town last weekend and I cam across a very cute item. A teeny little pair of scissors that has a link key chain on it. You can take it with you anywhere and I was thinking even hook it on a lanyard and wear it while you are working so you always have your scissors right within reach.
There was a problem. The scissors were poorly constructed and had too much of a gap between the blades. It would never be able to cut yarn or thread because it just slips between the blades. Since the scissors are so small they were not joined with a small screw that could be adjusted to make them work. So my husband got a pair of pliers and smashed the piece holding it together. The good news is that the scissors cut great now. The bad news is that he smashed them too much and they have to manually be opened each time you use them. He said they would work loose after time and be just the way I want them.
I have went back to using my big scissors.
These cute, purple, perfect sized scissors are now a decoration for my crochet bag. I do not have the patience to work on getting them to loosen up. I was so disheartened over it I won't even take a picture of them. (yes I am pouting)
BUT.......I bought something else that day too. These are supposed to be stitch markers for knitting. I will not need to remind anybody of my history with knitting. And sadly no, these won't work for stitch markers for crochet. I bought them because they are super cute, colorful balls of yarn. I am thinking about making a tote bag or purse and using them like you would beads. Just something cute and dangly to add a little pizzazz to a project. I actually have an idea in mind of a tote bag with a front pocket and those little plastic balls of yarn hanging from the pocket.
I am making a tote bag right now but the color scheme doesn't match the stitch markers.
So I suppose that gives me a reason to make another bag.
